NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS
WHIDBEY ISLAND CONSERVATION DISTRICT
The Whidbey Island Conservation District (WICD) is holding two public meetings on its proposed 2010 special assessment. A north Whidbey meeting will be held on July 8, 2009 from 3:00PM to 4:30PM at the Taylor Road Fire Station, 3440 Taylor Road, Oak Harbor. A south Whidbey meeting will be held from 7:00PM to 8:30PM on the same date at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 20103 State Route 525, Freeland. The WICD Board of Supervisors is proposing an assessment of $5.00 per parcel plus $0.05/acre for assessed lands. Forest lands would be assessed at a rate set by RCW 89.08.400. The District will present the assessment proposal and work plan, and would like comments from the Whidbey Island landowners regarding this proposal. PRESS RELEASE
The Island County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to complete the term of a Water Resources Advisory Committee (WRAC) position representing Commissioner District 2 (Oak Harbor) which will run until May 17, 2010. There is also a position open representing Commissioner District 1 (South/Central Whidbey) which will run until May 17, 2012. Applicants must reside within the area they are representing.
