Locating an inmate in Washington State can be a challenging task. However, several online resources and search options are available to make the process easier.

Washington State Prisons: The Washington State Department of Corrections (WSDOC) maintains a database of inmates currently incarcerated in state prisons. To search for an inmate, visit the WSDOC website (www.doc.wa.gov) and navigate to the "Inmate Search" feature. Enter the inmate's last name, first name, and/or DOC number if known. The search results will provide the inmate's full name, DOC number, location, and release date if applicable. You may also call the WSDOC's main office at (360) 725-8213 for assistance.

Washington County Jails: In addition to state prisons, Washington has numerous county jails that house individuals awaiting trial or serving short sentences. Each county jail maintains its own inmate lookup system. Visit the appropriate county's website and navigate to the inmate search or roster page. Enter the required information, such as the inmate's name or booking number, to view their current status and location. Keep in mind that some smaller counties may not have an online lookup system, and you may need to call the county jail directly for information.

Washington Federal Prisons: Washington is home to multiple federal prisons, including the Federal Detention Center (FDC) SeaTac and the United States Penitentiary (USP) Victorville. To search for inmates in federal prisons, visit the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) website (www.bop.gov) and utilize the "Inmate Locator" tool. You will need the inmate's first and last name, BOP register number, and/or age, race, and sex to conduct a search. The results will display the inmate's full name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and facility location. If you need additional assistance, you may call the BOP at (202) 307-3198.

VINE Search: The Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) system is a valuable tool for finding inmates and staying informed about their custody status. VINE is a free and anonymous service available 24/7. To access VINE, visit the website (www.vinelink.com) or call the toll-free number (1-877-846-3492). After selecting Washington State, you can search for an inmate using their name, offender ID, or date of birth. VINE provides information on the inmate's custody status, facility location, and scheduled release date. Users can also register for automated notifications via phone, email, or text message whenever an inmate's status changes.
