DETENTION FACILITY GENERAL INFORMATION
ADMISSION
Island County Detention is a secure facility for persons under the age 18 years old. Youth are detained for offenses which range from Probation Violations to Felony charges.
VISITATION
Visiting hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.;
Weekends and Holidays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and then again from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Visitation by attorneys, social workers, mental health specialists, and caseworkers are permitted at any time.
Personal visits are allowed for parents and legal guardians only.
The detainee has the right to refuse any visit not required by the Court.
Visitation is a privilege and can be denied if the detainees’ behavior warrants, except for visits with their attorney. Visitors who cannot provide proper identification or who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be refused the opportunity to visit.
All visitors’ personal items must be secured in the lock boxes in the lobby. This includes purses, pagers, keys, cigarettes, lighters, etc. There is a 25-cent deposit for use of the lock boxes which is returned upon retrieval of belongings.
At no time will visitors give anything to detainees. Items such as school work or medication must be given to a Detention Officer or the detainees’ Probation Counselor. Visitors must abide by all rules or risk having their visitation suspended.

While in detention, youth are given the opportunity to participate in:
- School programming – Coupeville School District 204
- Religious services
- Gender specific programming
- Structured gymnasium program
